Handling rate limits

Retry safely when you hit quotas

When you exceed a rate limit, the API returns 429 Too Many Requests.

Best practices

  1. Respect Retry-After when present.
  2. Back off exponentially on repeated 429 responses.
  3. Spread high-volume sends across time instead of bursting.
